PROJECT UPDTAES

Upcoming Community Meeting

On September 16th, we will hold a community meeting for those who live near the project location. We provide an update on our work for Calpine’s Sutter Decarbonization Project and answer your questions.  As you know, last year we drilled a stratigraphic test well and continue to evaluate the data. We will share with you our next steps, which include planning for a seismic survey. Seismic surveys use surface-based equipment that create low-energy signals to map the subsurface, including fluids, rocks, depths, and more.

For information about the meeting, please reach out to our Stakeholder Relations team.

Stratigraphic Research Well

We drilled a stratigraphic research well in late 2024. A stratigraphic research well is a well that is drilled to gather information about the subsurface characteristics. In our commitment to being a good neighbor, we provide frequent and transparent information, seek community feedback, safeguard the environment, and protect the health and safety of employees and communities.

Our standard practices align with the guidelines of Sutter County and the State of California. We carefully planned this location's development and techniques to minimize any temporary impacts from development and operations.

For up-to-date information on timing, please reach out to our team.
